Why your posts die in the first 2 seconds

The Amplified Creator On Hooks
Why your posts die in the first 2 seconds.
The short version
Most posts don't fail because the music is weak. They fail in the first two seconds, because the opening gives nobody a reason to stay. Your hook moves your reach more than anything else in the post. Keep a bank of them and you stop losing good content to bad openings.

You can play, sing, and perform brilliantly and still get 200 views. The playing is not the problem. The first two seconds gave nobody a reason to stop scrolling.

The opening of a post, the hook, decides whether anyone sees the rest. The algorithm is watching Watch Time, Average View Duration, and Retention like a HAWK. A strong hook holds them for (at least) three seconds, the post gets pushed to more people, and the same clip that died last month starts reaching thousands.

Most musicians treat the hook as an afterthought. They spend an hour on the take and ten seconds on the caption and opening frame. That is backwards.

A few hook shapes that work for music content. Open mid-phrase on your best moment so there is no slow intro. Make a flat claim people want to argue with, like "this X beats that X every time." Ask the exact question your audience already has in their head. Show the finished result first, then reveal how you got there.

You don't need to invent these from nothing every time. You need a list you can pull from. The day you feel like you have nothing to post is almost always a day you have footage and no hook for it.

Still finding your footing? Start there. The free Content Starter Kit gets you posting in a 7-day sprint, so hooks like these have something to land on.
Next week: the captions that pull their weight, and the ones quietly costing you saves and shares.

The Amplified Creator On Captions Your captions are doing nothing. The short version A caption earns one specific action: a save, a share, a comment, or a follow. Describing what people can already see wastes it. Write each caption for the job you want it to do and the same post performs better. Most music captions read like a label. "New cover, hope you like it, link in bio." That caption asks for nothing, so it gets nothing. Every caption should have one job, and you decide it before you...

The Amplified Creator Sunday Signal · New Video 11 ways musicians make money. The short version Most musicians think there are 3 or 4 ways to make money. There are 11.
